This 2-sday - a new GOP candidate from Illinois. They promise! Really! |
|
Money is on Uber-alles and his milk money. All others with any substantive bank account have already been sent packing or dropped out. Oberweist, for those who don't understand the seamy, steamy aspects of Illinois professional mud wrestling, inherited a milk fortune and thinks that ultraconservatives are related to Trotsky and Lenin. He put out a bunch of ads claiming the immigration was killing our economy, pointing mainly at hispanics. These nasty ads were so pathetic and erroneous, that even the staunchest GOP conservatives could not stomach the products he was bottling.
The only other possibility - well, there are no other possibilities. Homer Simpson, Bozo the Clown and Betty Boop were interviewed but decided that celluloid was better than tabloid.
Illinois politics is a strange, heavy duty, corrupt contact sport. On both sides of the aisle. In fact, it is hard to tell which is which, GOP or Dem, given the propensity to seek graft and bribes on both sides. That is why we are SOOOOO proud and amazed that we have a new leader, Barack Obama, to lead this party into the 21st century. Not only is he a class act, but, he has managed to avoid the snares and traps of local thuggery, criminal indictments and theft that pervades politics in this state.

I deal with a lot of immigrants, both professionally and personally. Always find their world views to be of interest. So much perspective, history and experiece to learn from. Of course, both parents had to escape from Stalin, so, there is that connection.
Having most of my relatives die in Siberia makes me feel, well, hospitable to immigrants. When a brain-damaged, spoiled brat like Uber-alles starts in on immigrants and immigration, I feel my blood pressure rising.

nice people. Quiet, shy, but not after i got through with them. :)
My great grandmother spent 30 years in Siberia. When she returned to Lithuania, she spent the rest of her days there, until her demise at age 104. She made jokes about Stalin frequently. She did not care.
her daughter (my grandma) lives in chicago, aged 96. and still spry. Reads the NYT every day.

9. I don't think it will be anyone who wants to get embarrassed. |
|
Oberweis isn't going to waste his money on a lost cause this year. The GOP will have to convince an old warhorse, or someone who wants to use this as a steping stone.

11. That's why I like downstate Dems |
|
Its easier to get elected downstate without selling your soul. Sadly, the Chicago party leaders don't exactly encourage the development of new Democratic leadership downstate. I'm sure a downstater could beat Blago in the primary for Gov if there was more strong downstate talent.
