1. We have about 6 inches in the Soburbs. |
|
On the plus side, I got to try out my new snow blower last night.
It's not too bad. I don't mind the snow.

School was cancelled not because the amount of snow we received (about 4 inches) but because it was freezing rain this this morning. Everything looks clear now. Snow and rain has stopped and the street is salted. I do have to get off my lazy butt and fire up the snow blower in a little while. Should take an hour or so to clean the driveway (it's a big one).

3. Lotta Ice on trees here. |
|
We have trees and limbs down in several places here in Champaign County. Lots of ice on powerlines as well. If the winds don't come up we'll be ok, I think. IF the winds do increase we are gonna have some serious problems. If you walk outside right now you can hear trees cracking and popping already...
Schools were pretty muc hshut down in rural areas today. Material Girl is working with Dad at home...

...I'm a CTA user. Can't tell if the lateness was the snow, or just CTA being CTA. Sidestreets still soggy. Other than that, no serious problems.
my dirty little secret is....
I really like snow. :)

I like the dirty little secret. Yeah, when it snows or rains, Chicago sidestreets suck. If you don't pay attention, you can end up with some very wet feet. It's pretty cool using the CTA when it's snowing. You don't have to worry about traffic delays. Sigh... if only most people took public transportation....

I really don't know what the big deal with the snow is, we have gotten six inches before, this is nothing like the snowstorm of 99 or anything else like that.
It was a bit slippery driving to work today but nothing horrible.

10. When I still lived in the city |

I always used public trans or my feet. At one point, I hadn't driven my car for 3 months.

I'm not sure how much it's going to be or when it's going to stop, but it's coming down again.
