"Federal investigators have concluded their probe of alleged misconduct by Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and members of his staff with no charges being filed, Madigan's attorney confirmed Wednesday.

Bill Roberts, a former U.S. attorney for the Central District of Illinois, sent Madigan, D-Chicago, a letter outlining the status of the investigation that had been lingering for nearly three years.

"I was recently advised by the United States Attorney's Office ... that the office is closing its investigation into operation of the Speaker's office," Roberts wrote. "I am advised that there will be no charges stemming from any of these inquiries and that the investigation has been closed."

Roberts said in an interview Wednesday that it appeared the investigation had been dormant for some time before the U.S. attorney's office advised him last month that it was concluded."

I didn't know this was going on. I also didn't know that Lisa was adopted by Mike Madigan. I mean, they don't look all that much alike, but still.
