Please help us defeat Dennis Hastert
Dear Friends,

Please help us defeat Dennis Hastert. March in a parade with Ruben Zamora, Hastert's opponent this November. Ruben needs visibility and name recognition. A crowd of supporters for a progressive Democrat would be noticed locally, where Dennis Hastert is deeply entrenched.

Some upcoming parades in which Ruben will march include:

Yorkville ( Hastert's home town) on Saturday, July 3rd. The parade starts at 9:00 AM, lineup is at 8:00 AM.

Aurora, on Sunday, July 4th. The parade starts at 1:00 PM. Lineup is at noon.

West Chicago on Sunday, July 11th. The parade steps off at 1:00 PM. Lineup is at noon.

Please join us. Support Ruben in this visible way.

For further information, contact Ruben's campaign.

3. Why not?
I do know it is a fight worth fighting. If we only try to work on the possible nothing important will ever happen.

6. I'm just saying its quite a task to unseat the Speaker,
and it doesn't happen too often.

IIRC Denny got 75% of the vote in 2002.

7. And Bush won the district by a wide margin in 2000
There are plenty of districts in which Democrats can win. This doesn't appear to be one of them.

8. Bullchips!
As a proud member of the Elgin Twp. Democrats, I would like to say that we WILL deliver Elgin Twp. for Zamora.

And I see no reason why the rest of the district couldn't be won, either.

Hastert is weak, and Bush is weak. All it will take is motivating some of the nonvoters, and we swing this district. The Demographics here are changing.

9. The past 3 elections cycles Hastert has gotten over 70% of the vote,
so its doubtful that the challenger this year will be able to swing more than 20% of the electorate in his direction. Sure there are changing demographics, but that effect won't be shown through this year.

It seems to me that we would be better suited to expend our resources toward campaigns that actually have a chance at success.

10. Zamora has more than "a chance"
I think he will unseat Hastert.

The whole GOP will be a shambles by the time of the election, and as Speaker, Hastert will pay the price for this.

5. Yes, he's spoken extensively with the Dean people
He's applied to be one of the Dean Dozen and also for support from the Progressive Majority PAC. Ruben doesn't miss a trick.
