"Convicted thief John "Quarters" Boyle allegedly instructed a hired truck firm to contribute $2,500 to the 11th Ward Democratic organization, run by Mayor Daley's brother, to get city business, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

This is the first time the 11th Ward political organization, overseen by Cook County Commissioner John Daley, has been linked to the federal investigation.

Federal prosecutors had not named the 11th Ward in their filings, identifying it only as "Ward Organization A." But the Sun-Times uncovered the ward organization's identity after reviewing court records and city documents.

John Daley said in a brief interview Wednesday he doesn't know Boyle or why Boyle would raise money for the 11th Ward."
