Bush in Illinois on Thursday
http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-bside17

...Bush will tour the Northeastern Illinois Public Training Academy in Glenview. After that, he is scheduled to make remarks about homeland security.

Later, he will headline a "Victory 2004" dinner in Winnetka, with the proceeds to benefit the RNC, not the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign...

Interestingly, the land used to create that Training Academy that George W. Bush will visit was only available because George H.W. Bush closed the Navy base that was there.

Wonder if he'll tour either of the two golf courses that also sprouted up in that space.

2. Even the IIlinoisLeader is giving up
I saw on there yesterday a poll - whose corpse the GOP should re-animate to take on Obama?

Lincoln was edging out Reagan, with Dirksen in third.

What a train wreck of a party.

3. their are
republicans in some districts who could run but they won`t..they are a big fish in a small pond..they sure aren`t going to give up that to get the crap beat out of them by obama..jerry mitchell is one-of course i`m biased, his office did one hell of a job for my family,no strings attached..and around here you`ll see alot of union stickers on trucks with his sticker next to them..he`s done alot to save jobs and get jobs in his district..that`s why everyone votes him in every year...

5. Hey, I agree!
Jerry Mitchell does a great job for us.

He kept all those Imeco (York) jobs here that would have gone to Trent Lott's district.

He listens.

He is the only republican I vote for.

When he first won his office, I was badmouthing him, and Doug Scott said not to do that. He said he had worked with Jerry, and he was great at working in a bi-partisan manner.

Jerry is one politician who really cares about the people in his district.

6. I'd love to be there to give him the finger
but I'm in LA this month. I'm having my parents send my dog, Elvis, though. He hates Bush.

I think they're probably gonna have a candidate, and he needs to run over to IL to show some backing. Whoever enters the Senate race at this point is at such a HUGE disadvantage, the timing does seem to suggest a candidate announcement from the IL GOP coming this week.
