Bush protest at Kirkwood...were you there?
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that there were nearly 175 protesters outside of Kirkwood yesterday. Not too shabby considering the extreme heat and not-very-work-friendly hour of the day.

I was naturally disappointed (but hardly surprised) that they didn't let Bush anywhere near us, but the dialogue with Bush supporters leaving at about 2:15 made the protest well worth the time.

Next time, we'll bring more water!

Anyone else have any insights or suggestions for his next visit?

1. My BIL was there - and didn't note that there were protesters
but he is on staff so they might have come in a way that didn't include the First Amendment zone. He did say that Bush* was sweating like a stuck pig - it weren't purty.

Way to go on the protesting!

4. I live in Davenport
and protesting bush here is not going to be easy. The only way to do it would be to figure out his route from the airport and stand around on the route. It sounds like the park, and the entire downtown are going to be locked down. They are closing the River, no trains can go by on the rail tracks, No parking at the ballpark lot, the only other way may to hang around by the casino and yell loudly before they throw you out. The jail is only a few blocks away too.

5. Interstate overpasses on his way into town?
Unless he takes a helicopter from the airport to the event.
