DHS Had Contact With Girl's Family Before Her Death
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 05:20 AM by Blue Gardener
"Iowa Department of Human Services officials have confirmed the agency had contact with the family of five-year-old Evelyn Miller before her death.
The girl's body was found last Wednesday in the Cedar River about two miles north of Charles City.

Evelyn's grandparents, Linda and Richard Christie, of Windsor Heights, say they weren't suprised when authorities confirmed that foul play was suspected in the child's death.
The Christies said for weeks before Evelyn's body was found, they had suspected she might be in danger."

This is just sad. So is DHS doing anything about the two remaining children?

1. Grr It also says of the Christies . . .
"They said they never called the DHS, but knew other relatives, friends and school officials had reported concerns about evelyn's home life."

Well you know what assholes? If you'd gotten involved and stepped in, she might be alive today. Yup her parents did the deed, but you knew the child, your own granddaughter, was in danger and did NOTHING, you are equally guilty.

2. Could a tragedy have been prevented?
This is so terrible. Just like the little girl up in Dickinson County.

3. kimt & the globe in mason city have been following this rather closely
and i was shocked after reading the story in the register this morning.

this presents a whole new stage for what is sure to be an intriguing chapter to a very sad story. i want to feel sorry for all involved, and would really hate to think it was a member of her family who did this.
