Sen. Matt McCoy
Can anyone tell me how old Matt McCoy is? He was recommended to me for DemBench, but I'm afraid he's over our 40-year old cutoff. Any help?

1. Very Interesting
Unfortunately I can't help you with Matt McCoy, however I will visit your site and recommend Tyler Olson, who is running for State Representative. He is probably about 29 or so and is a solid dem and on track for an impressive future!

By the way, I love the concept of your organization. Does Dembench support candidates for city offices? We have a local election for City Council coming up this fall and I know there are some young people who would love to get involved if only the money weren't a hurdle (like me!)

2. Local races are a key part
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 02:55 PM by LocalDem
of what we want to do, Seth. We're still a young organization and money is not abundant at this point. We're working with ActBlue to move into states where we can channel online funds into state races, and we hope to do that for our Virginia candidates very soon.

In many states, the local races are governed by their own election rules, so we may be restricted in how we can financially assist such candidates. If Iowa local races follow state law, it may be easier to do online fundraising for IA municipal elections. In either event, we would do what we can in terms of helping people get their campaigns off the ground.

Thanks for the referral and the kind comments. I'll check out Tyler Olson very soon.

3. Understood!
I can imagine that your ability to financially assist candidates is stretched fairly well considering you are a newer and nation-wide group. You can only do good with as much as you are given!

The concept your organization is promoting is a great one and I commend you on your efforts! I will be sure to keep your site in mind (its in my favorites!) and try to keep up to date on your progress.

FYI, I didn't send any info about Tyler Olson because I don't believe his website is up and running just yet. As soon as its up and running I will be sure to submit the info, as I honestly think he has the potential to do great things.
