Tom Vilsack has to go
The biggest obstacle to winning Iowa for Kerry is our inept, ass of a governor Tom Vilsack who yesterday split with our state's Democratic party and sided with repukes on giving away $100 million to the likes of Wells Fargo while taking back workers' compensation benefits from our state's most injured workers and passing other tort deform called "economic regulatory reform."

Vilsack has to go and Kerry should be careful to keep his distance from him.

2. No I think its just Vilsack just being hamstrung
by the republican majority in the State House. They have been fighting him since he took office. I must say, however, that his "Condition of the State" speech in January left a LOT to be desired. And Vilsack has already stated he is a two term Governor and no more.

3. First of all Vilsack's not running for re-election.
Secondly, Vilsack's a member in good standing of the DLC. Hence, Vilsack's willingness to screw workers along with the Repiglicans on workman's comp.

While you're venting about Vilsack, why don't you get ahold of my State Senator, Jack Hatch, and tell him to pull his head out of his ass.

5. Hatch is okay
Hatch may be full of himself, but Hatch is on the right side of things 90% of the time. The real DLC members of the Senate are Steve Warnstadt & Matt McCoy. The most conservative by far is Warnstadt.

6. Matt McCoy
He actually was one of the Trial Lawyers biggest supporters in trying to block the workers' compensation changes. I don't like that he works for Ruan, but he stood with us on this and he has pledged in the next session - hopefully with a majority - to turn back these changes. The only question is will the governor veto this.

8. Jack Hatch is my state senator.
And he's on the wrong side of the Des Moines-Polk Co merger issue.

4. Politics in this state is about the two Toms
Harkin and Vilsack. Both of them really care more for their personal PR than for the Democrats in the statehouse. It's been this way always. I doubt it'll end anytime soon. Vilsack has always wanted the "values fund" as a economic development resume piece for the wider national audience.

To his credit however, he vetoed parts of the first values fund that sucked. Unfortunatley, you can't line item veto things that aren't an appropriations bill. The values fund had two bills, one being the funds and the other being the language to distribute the funds. Since he cares more about his resume, he'll just sign this new peice of crap and be done with it.

7. Remember now,
Vilsack got the endorsement of the Iowa Farm Beaureau, not a leftist group by any stretch of the imagination.
