I just started a site for Progressives in Iowa.. check it out
I found this site called Care2 and spent all afternoon searching it. It has some neat options and I decided to start a group for Progressives in Iowa. The group is creativly called Progressive Iowa!

I want Progressive Iowa to be a place where like-minded Iowans can come together and discuss progressive ideas and values, organize and advertise their events around the state, and network with fellow progressives in the state. I see the group being focused on issues and events around the state.

Come check it out here...

Thanks...

1. Thanks!
If I ever have anything useful to say, I'll add to it. But until then, I'll check in from time to time. Next year is a huge election and you will undoubtedly have a number of people posting thoughts then.

3. Bump
Come and check out my site. I have some events during the next few weeks around the state posted.

I just started this and the thing I need most is members, so if you like what you see, please join.

4. Hey... I need to talk to you
A few weeks ago, when I was stressing out and unable to find some information, I came across a site in the QC Area. It is basically an informational hub -- a place to link all the activities and events, and a repository for information. I contacted the site owner before I left on vacation and noticed that he/she has emailed me back with information about how the site began, meetings, radio spots and lots more.

Perhaps I'm just a bit insane, but it seems to me that folks in the corridor (IC and CR) could also use such a site to organize all the information and activities. It's more than just a forum -- a fully interactive site with a calendar, file uploads, etc. I don't think it would be difficult to set up - basically a cross between what I've done for our community site and the government site.

Is this also the type of site you were envisioning, pstans?

5. I think I have seen that site
Sorry, I have responded. I lost this thread over Thanksgiving.

I am pretty sure that I have seen that site, but I couldn't find it when I was looking for it yesterday. From what I remember is that it is a pretty good site. I live in Marshalltown and am 1-2 hours from Ames, Des Moines, CR, and Iowa City, so I look for events in all of those places. I figured if there was one site that had them posted it could help a lot of people out.

6. Found the link
http://www.qcprogressiveaction.org

A site like that for Iowa City/Cedar Rapids or the Des Moines area would be great.

I know that in Des Moines there are meetings of Concerned Democrats made up of DFA, Moveon, women's groups, and the Polk County Democrats.

In the CR/Iowa City area I know DFA is pretty strong.

7. Hey! I belong to that group.
Good group. Doing lots of things both locally and regionally but they are somewhat religious. Not fundies, who we are fighting at every turn, but peaceful people, sorta like Quakers. So I'm not active in everything the group does, but it's a good group and regular meetings will restart in January. Attend if you are near here. You all will be welcomed.
