Nussle has over $2 Million for Governor's race |
|
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051216/NEWS09/512160381/1056Des Moines Register story - he also has $400,000 left over from his Congressional races. We better have a candidate that can raise money! I'll be watching the January 19th reporting.

Thats a scary prospect. Nussle certainly means business and you are right...raising money will certainly be a BIG factor in this race.
I admire Fallon's ideas and principles, but I think his anti-PAC money stance would be a hindrance this go round.

2. Yeah, but Iowans have a funny way of turning their backs on the |
|
big money guy.
Republicans I know really like VanDerPlaats because they see him as *gag* a truer conservative. They also seem to know Nussle is a sleaze. Western Iowa, solidly R, also likes VDP. I wouldn't be surprised if Nussle has to spend a chunk of that in the primary.
Remember, Vilsack slew Lightfoot when he had a huge money edge and Fred Grandy almost got the entrenched incumbent Brandsted a ways back.
Yeah, money will be needed but if it is a 1-2 deficit, all hope will not be lost.

3. I'm relying on Western Iowa to come through in the Primary |
|
and give us Vander Plaats to run against statewide! That would be great for two reasons 1) a clear choice (instead of Nussle's bullshit "I'm a moderate" clear as mud message vs. voting record - we'd have a FAR FAR RIGHT conservative to run against) 2) Nussle would be THROUGH!! time to collect that federal pension buddy cuz you are DONE with elected politics!!!! :7 (wish we had a happy feet smilie!)
