Hope you all either already have or will soon. One of ther ladies told me turnout was fairly good for both repubs and the good guys. Btw, I am the one who said "good guys", not her. She said "both parties". But then here in the First District, we have two hotly contested Congressional races, so that is why.

Looked to me like everyone was choosing paper. Smart voters in Johnson County.

I filled out a paper ballot--by darkening the circles next to my choices. Then I put the ballot into the machine. I looked at the machine and it said, "ES&S" and I wanted to take a sledgehammer to the machine.
My 5 year old asked me, as I was putting the ballot in the machine, "What's that doing mommy?". I replied, "Well, this machine will count my vote."
I looked up and saw a long table of election volunteers watching me, and I said, "But then again, this machine says ES&S on it, so let's hope that it's counted."
The table of volunteers all chuckled. I'm not sure what that meant.
I really did get a sick feeling in my stomach when I saw "ES&S"...
If Culver wins this thing---maybe he can help out in this area. He seems to care about voter issues.

outside my polling place.
I wonder if they voted with the R or D ballot...guess we'll find out.
I always go with my husband, that way I'm certain that he really *did* cast a vote. Poor guy has tried to slip that past me once too many times...

In Dubuque County I voted paper ballot. There seems to be a huge turnout in Dubuque County.
