"Democratic congressional candidate Bruce Braley differed with party leaders Thursday over a controversial ad that shows images of American soldiers' flag-draped coffins.
Braley, a Democratic candidate in Iowa's 1st District, said the images should not be used in political campaigns.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, posted the ad on its Web site. With somber music in the background, it shows at least a dozen flag-draped coffins and a soldier standing over what appears to be a battlefield gravesite. It also presents images of high gasoline prices and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and includes the words: "Washington Republicans have sold America out."
Braley's disapproval came after Republican Mike Whalen called on him to denounce the ad and return any money given him by Democratic leaders.
"National Democrats have sunk to a new low in exploiting the bodies of fallen American soldiers to raise money," Russ Perisho, Whalen's campaign manager, said in a statement.
http://www.brucebraley.com/primarynews/Article.asp?ID=473 I hate it when they back down. A little fake outrage from the Pukes and the Dems buckle. Why didn't he say something like he doesn't agree with using the coffins, but he agrees with everything the ad says.
