Will Bruce be a fighter?
"Democratic congressional candidate Bruce Braley differed with party leaders Thursday over a controversial ad that shows images of American soldiers' flag-draped coffins.
Braley, a Democratic candidate in Iowa's 1st District, said the images should not be used in political campaigns.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, posted the ad on its Web site. With somber music in the background, it shows at least a dozen flag-draped coffins and a soldier standing over what appears to be a battlefield gravesite. It also presents images of high gasoline prices and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and includes the words: "Washington Republicans have sold America out."

Braley's disapproval came after Republican Mike Whalen called on him to denounce the ad and return any money given him by Democratic leaders.

"National Democrats have sunk to a new low in exploiting the bodies of fallen American soldiers to raise money," Russ Perisho, Whalen's campaign manager, said in a statement.

I hate it when they back down. A little fake outrage from the Pukes and the Dems buckle. Why didn't he say something like he doesn't agree with using the coffins, but he agrees with everything the ad says.

1. Yes, Bruce will be a fighter
I agree with him on the ad. I didn't like it. We accuse the gop of using the war for political (and monetary) gains and then the DCCC makes an ad with the US Soldiers dead bodies and asks us to contribute? I doesn't make sense to me. The DCCC could have found another way to raise $$.

Go to Bruce's web site www.brucebraley.com and read where he stands on the issues.

He didn't back down, he told the DCCC he didn't like the ad. That's all.

2. It scared me that
the article made it sound like he backed down because Whalen whined about it. If Bruce really believes it's wrong, then good for him.

Like I said, it just gets my goat when we back down every time the Pukes squeal.

3. I agree with you - we shouldn't back down just because the
republicans whine. Read ruallib's recent post here (he has a link to a great piece on Braley and how he stands up for what he believes in).

I can't imagine Bruce Braley stepping down on anything b/c soulless Mike Whalen cried. Bruce has WAY more backbone then that!

4. All I can really tell you is that if DCCC calls and wants $
It probably ain't happening. I've had enough of backing down from these repub Mother F#%*^!'s and just think it's time to fight fire with fire. Pass this ad off to a 527 group or something, just get it out there in one form or another.

5. Braley didn't back down
I hope you won't be withholding contributions from his campaign. The DCCC will never EVER see a dime from me, but Braley will. I beleive in him.

Oh, heard a Whalen ad on the radio this AM - something about a contract with American workers....I'll have to see if he has it on his site. OMG, that's what we need another Contract on us by the republicans. d.
