As a person living below the Mason-Dixon Line, an apology |
|
Zell Miller's tirade the other night and his obvious attempt at painting Massachusetts as un-American ("those two senators from MASSACHUSETTS") was totally uncalled for. It sickens me when my fellow Texans and southerners try to paint your great state as a bastion of liberal yahoos. I have even been told to "move to Massachusetts" when I have expressed my liberal views.
Again, my apologies. Not all of us down here are assholes like Zell. Oh, and I can't forget Bush, either.

I appreciate the words, but really, we know it's not you. You don't need to apologize for them.
What I really don't get is the idea that southerners can only vote for other southerners. You never hear someone from the West Coast, Midwest, or Northeast ever say they need to have "one of their own" on the ballot. Why does the South deserve such special treatment?

2. I think there is a belief, and is probably true |

that a democrat won't win an election unless there's some southern flavor in the mix. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I believe that is the feeling down here in my neck of the woods.

but thank you. You are obviously different!
Honestly, most people up here don't know you guys exist. Except when our federal tax bill comes and we pay for the South's sorry asses. We really should secede....

I am so sick of being painted as being "not a real American."

Is why do they all come up here for an education? Then they send their kids up here to. If it is so bad why do they keep coming here?

As someone born and raised in SC I am totally embarrassed by Zell Miller's comments concerning the fine people of your state. As a veteran of the US Marine Corps, I owe unending thanks and gratitude to a fellow Marine from Sandwich, Mass. for putting his own safety in jeopardy and pulling my ass out of a difficult situation. He was (and probably still is) an excellent example of people from your state.

Is one of the reasons I stay here! Why else would I put up with frigid winters, Mitt Romney and the Curse of the Bambino!

It bothers me when the right wing tries to make only certain states acceptable;they did this with Dean and Vermont
They are a hateful bunch who try to instill hatred in others
