Brian McGrory of the Boston Globe burns John H. Rogers . . .
in Rogers furtive attempt to grab the Massachusetts Speaker of the House seat vacated by Tom Finneran's departure. McGrory is scathing in his words and in his remarks about Rogers! OUCH!!

The Boston Globe newspaper, Tuesday, September 28, 2004
front page of Section B "City & Region"

"Brian McGrory, Globe Columnist: NOT ALL DOGS HAVE A DAY

"Poor John Rogers. The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he's better known in the State house as Mimi Me, his young lips forever stuck on a part of Tom Finneran that members of the public would be advised not to regard.

"He's had a tough week. Little John has. First, Finneran, his alpha wolf, announced that he's fleeing Dodge a step ahead of the sheriff, leaving Rogers without a clue when he's supposed to jump, let alone how high.

"Then (Rogers) always assumed that Finneran would take care of him on the way out the door, making sure he was the next speaker of the House. But no such luck. That nod went to Sal DiMasi.

(snip)

So I thought I'd pay a sympathy call on Little John, maybe buy him a Popsicle and point out that if this politics thing doesn't work out, he could always run a funeral home or something like that."

John H. Rogers is the present Massachusetts House Ways and Means Committee Chairman which is the most powerful cmte chair in the House. Rogers was pushed upstairs from that chair position to the House Majority seat replacing Sal DiMasi as DiMasi was, in turn, bumped upstairs to the House Speaker's position replacing departing Tom Finneran. Tom Finneran is leaving both the Speaker's position and his elected office representing Mattapan's 12th Suffolk District. Finneran has been hired as president of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, a private bio-tech business organization.
