WTF is wrong with peopLe!?
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 06:58 AM by sniffa
i was watching the riot on the news Last night (boston stiLL has cameras everywhere from the DNC) and i can't beLieve what i saw.
i thought the "riot" was just tipping over some cars and Lighting some fires but i was wrong.

it was fuLL bLown vioLence in some areas with "fans" kicking the shit out of each other.

i watched 2 girLs fighting - after the initiaL excitement of "ooh, catfight. yay!" i was quickLy mortified (damn my empathy!) when i saw a man (about 6'1" and 250#) come over and start kicking one of the girLs. eventuaLLy one girL went down and either gave up or was out of it (it was a wiLd fight) and the girL who "won" (with heLp from that guy 3 times their size) just wouLd not Let up and continued to waiL away on the Limp girL. the big guy who had done the kicking finaLLy tried to put a stop to it - he grabbed the "winner" by her hair after unsuccessfuLLy trying to puLL her off by arm. as he puLLed her away by her hair, she was ripping out the other girL's hair.

that shit sickens me.

then, i watched what happened on Lansdowne st - scene of that girL dying by Less-LethaL force. i saw one man get shot in the face (for cLimbing the outside of the green monster) and bLood erupted. it was this guy:

i saw the girL who died Laying on the ground bLeeding. they did not show the shot that kiLLed her but it must be on tape.

peopLe have to pay for this. the poLice need to be heLd accountabLe for that poor girL's demise, and the peopLe they injured. the fucking dicks who rioted, and resorted to vioLence and mayhem need to be identified and arrested. that big guy who kicked that girL needs to get knocked the fuck out.

rant over

1. One of the reasons it happened...
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 07:03 AM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
And yes, I know what I am talking about, is the fact that when people hit Lansdowne, they get snot-slingin' commode-huggin' elbow-scrapin' drunk, their beer balls expand to the size of Jupiter and they get hyper-infused with The Combat Beer Hormones of Death.

No, the cops were at fault. Fire a projectile and someone could very well die. That said, the things I have seen on Lansdowne, back when I worked for concert promoter Don Law, would turn your hair gray.

The culture of the cops and the culture of the people both need some examination.

On Edit: That all said, I would like to say that by and large, Mass. Cops are a cut above most. Educated, reasonable and not so imbued with that "us and them" attitude that pollutees law enforcement in too many places.

2. It is sickening
I've noticed that fights almost always break out when you combine sporting events and alcohol.
Sometimes it turns deadly.
Sad.

Stupid fucking jock sports fans.

9. How low can the Boston Herald go u/ Patrick Purcell the owner ?
As if the full front page (colored) photo of the girl-lay-dying-on-public-sidewalk wasn't enough, Purcell placed a second photo on page 4 of the deadly bloody hole through Victoria Snelgrove's eye-socket!

Run this idiot out of town. Purcell, that is, from Murdoch's News Corporation. Purcell and his GWBush-for-president endorsement can take his coarse, crass, sleaze sensationalistic tabloid "newspaper" back to his affluent hometown just west of Boston. What a damn phony!

http://www.bostonphoenix.com/boston/news_features/top/features/documents/03720736.asp

Victoria Snelgrove's family should sue Purcell and Herald Media, Inc. for invasion of privacy, emotional distress and other legal causes. Can you imagine opening up the local newspaper to find a full page colored photo of your kid dying on a Boston public sidewalk, with another photo showing your kid's eye socket blown away?

. . . . . . .

6. It's bad enough this crap goes on ...
But it bothers the hell out of me that the Boston Herald saw fit to publish photographs of a poor dead college girl. If I were her parents, I would be bullshit that these pictures were published on the front page of a newspaper. What's the matter with us anyway!?
BTW - Mayor Menino is seriously considering a no alchohol policy during the world series here. Part of me doesn't blame him, frankly.

7. 2 things
1. i just heard (no confirmation other than hearsay) that the girL's father requested that the heraLd use that photo so everyone couLd see what they did to his baby. if true, i don't bLame him.

2. for the aLcohoL poLicy - there's many rumors fLying right now about it. it's no aLcohoL in certain hot spots (some bars wiLL be cLosed), but aLcohoL stiLL soLd at fenway. there's a rumor that bars won't be showing the games; that is not true. menino wants tv cameras out of the bars. if you haven't noticed, during games FOX Likes to show periodic shots of bars from the cities pLaying (they show the crowd and they aLL hoot and hoLLar for the camera).

8. On the news, they just said the bars will be open, with the games on TV
They also said no TV cameras in the bars.

I can remember my college days, partying, getting drunk and rowdy. But I don't ever remember kids rioting and fighting and all that shit. Back then, in my experience, it was still a sixties-type vibe of "peace, love, and understanding." Have people, and kids, gotten so hardened and nasty? They're happy and partying--and this is what happens?!

10. Victoria Snelgrove
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 11:00 AM by Cascadian
I could not believe what happened. Only 21 years old and she's dead. She was pretty too. You know some people are going to take the fall for that and I would not be surprised to see a lawsuit from the family. In either case, my sympathies go out to her family and her friends.

People on the both sides, the Boston Police and a bunch of people who cannot control their alcohol stirred all of it up it would seem to me.

12. My father knows their mother
they are quite a bit younger than my siblings and me...

The cops have a lot to answer for.

13. i haven't seen them in years
i don't even recognize him/her. he was on the news, and i recognized his voice.

my boss argued that he shouLd have been shot since they had to get him down from the green monster. he did say though, that the extra 12 shots were excessive.
