Subject: Creating an Effective Progressive Political Coalition/Movement in MA.

Dear Progressive Friends:
We write to invite you to attend a Progressive Summit which will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on April 2, 2005.
We write to invite you because we would like your participation in planning this event.
We write because we believe there is tremendous positive progressive political energy in Massachusetts: from the peace movement, from community and civil rights activists, from single payer health care advocates and equal marriage advocates, from organizers for fair elections and union organizers. The list is long: the young, the old, women's rights, welfare rights, social security, the anti-war movement, the environmental movement. The time for effective action is upon us.

THE QUESTION WE BELIEVE IS AT HAND IS - HOW DO WE BUILD AN EFFECTIVE PROGRESSIVE POLITICAL COALITION/MOVEMENT IN MASSACHUSETTS.

The answer is, no one knows for sure.
The answer is, you and we and our friends and allies must plan it and visualize it in order to realize it.

Here's what we hope is a helpful next step. Progressive Democrats of America, CPPAX, Progressive Democrats of Cambridge, and other progressive activists in Massachusetts are holding a joint meeting on March 2, 2005 to plan for the April 2, 2005 MA Progressive Summit. The planning committee that grows out of the March 2, 2005 meeting will shape the agenda for the Summit on April 2, 2005. We welcome participation in planning for the Summit on April 2, 2005 by all progressive populists in MA. Please join us at the next planning meeting at 175 Harvey St., Cambridge on March 2, 2005 at 7P.M. (Or indicate your interest in this event and this subject by responding to this email.) Naturally, we hope you will share this information with your lists.

Yours in solidarity,

Debbie Nicholson, CPPAX
Jesse Gordon, Progressive Democrats of Cambridge
Tim Carpenter, Executive Director, Progressive Democrats of America
Bruce Taub, Progressive Democrats of America - Massachusetts - 617-529-7129
