AFSC Spring Peace & Justice Conference, April 8&9, MIT
Hope & Hard Work: Another America is Possible

The American Friends Service Committee Spring Peace & Justice
Conference

Friday evening April 8 and Saturday April 9

M.I.T Building 34 Room 101 Cambridge (entrance on Vassar St)

Keynote speaker: Phyllis Bennis,

Featured Speakers: Bob Borosage, Nancy Murray, Ken Oye, and Jessica
Walker-Beaumont.

Boston Mobilization will be facilitating a workshop Saturday at 1:30
pm: MAKING ROOM FOR THE X FACTOR - YOUTH IN THE PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENT!

More than 20 workshops will be held.

This will be the fourth New England-wide peace and justice conference
organized by AFSC since the September 11 attacks provided the Bush
Administration with the opening to pursue its wars and the remaking of the U.S. to impose its “Arrangement for the 21st Century.” The conference is being organized to provide essential background information and to encourage organizing to challenge Bush Administration priorities:

1) the war in Iraq and expanding the empire;
2) privatization (focusing on Social Security and national budget priorities);
3) “Free Trade” – especially the Central America Free Trade Agreement; and
4) the assault on our
civil liberties and constitutionally guaranteed rights.

Registration will be $30, $20 for students and people with limited
incomes. For all registrants food is provided free of charge at lunch and at the late Saturday afternoon reception. Coffee and tea are available all day.

The formal conference call with agenda, speakers, and list of workshops are available from The American Friends Service Committee. You can register now by phone or mail. Call 617-661-6130 to register, to request a conference brochure, or just to get information.
