Easton vigil supports anti-war mom's cause
By Vicki-Ann Downing, Enterprise staff writer

EASTON — About 80 people lined the sidewalk in front of the CVS on busy Route 138 at dusk Wednesday, holding candles and carrying children to demonstrate their support for anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.

It was one of an estimated 1,000 such vigils staged across the nation by peace groups motivated by Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son, Casey, died while serving in Iraq last year.

Sheehan is keeping a vigil near the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas, demanding a meeting with the vacationing president.

Some who attended the Easton protest were veterans of three years of anti-war demonstrations, experienced enough to bring their own peace flags, banners and boxes of votive candles and lighters to share.
