Surprise! Bill Frist in Minnesota to help Mark Kennedy.
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/5477368.html

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist flew to Minnesota on Sunday to campaign for Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn., who is running for the seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Mark Dayton.

A Republican from Tennessee, Frist praised Kennedy's leadership skills and Midwestern common-sense values. Frist also cited a recent story in a national political publication that said the battle for the seat in 2006 will be the No. 1 race in the United States.

"We're not coming here to tell you how to vote or to get involved," Frist said at a news conference at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. "From a national standpoint, we want you to how well his reputation has been."

U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, who also flew in from Washington, D.C. for the news conference, praised Kennedy's grass-roots campaign efforts when he ran for the U.S. House.

Kennedy said three of his primary campaign issues will be the war on terrorism, health care and the economy.

Frist also attended a fundraising event for Kennedy.

Democrats running against Kennedy are Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar, child safety advocate Patty Wetterling, Twin Cities shopping center magnate Kelly Doran and veterinarian Ford Bell. GOP retired minister Harold Shudlick and Independence Party candidate Jack Uldrich, the party's former state chairman, are also running.

Michael Cavlan, a registered nurse from Apple Valley, announced that he will be a candidate for the Green Party endorsement.

-------------------------------------

Not that we did not see this coming from a mile away, but it presents us with a unique opportunity. Kennedy will get the GOP endorsement for sure. He "like Norm Coleman" was hand picked by the Karl Rove White House. Because we can be more then fairly cretin about Kennedy, we can prepare for the campaign ahead of us now.

The republicans taught us how to make a congressional candidate look bad, just look what they did to Kerry. Twist his voting record to say he is out of touch with Minnesota values, call him week on issues, ect. The flip flop tactic can be used against anybody in congress. Might as well do to them what they did to us. Anybody know if they can find video, or transcripts from the Kennedy vs Wetterling debate? We can analyze his weaknesses.

I don't know about you guys but I say we get the ball rolling into attack mode.

Is there a dump Kennedy blog?

4. An aside - anyone gotten a call from Wetterling's people?
I did on Friday, have to say the guy on the phone was dumber than dirt... couldn't answer one question about her platform compared to Amy's (whom I've already thrown my support behind)..

This guy was like a money grubbing robot, commit to a donation and I'll send you info... NO buddy, doesn't work like that, convince me WHY I should donate...

5. I recommend we zero in on how he, along with the other Repubs,
have failed in the three issues he is focusing on:

war on terrorism, health care and the economy

They put forward truly dreadful policies in all areas.

Vote Kennedy for:

More killing, torture and terrorism
More expensive health care (or none, since companies are moving overseas, and defaulting on pensions to avoid paying high premiums)
Certain economic armageddon

7. I agree......

And he flip flopped on the Federal funding to PBS. First voted to cut it, after public outrage changed his mind.

THE MAN CAN'T LEAD! LOL!

9. I agree. I laughed at that statement.
"Kennedy said three of his primary campaign issues will be the war on terrorism, health care and the economy."

Oh Really? It is not very smart to campaign on your party's BIGGEST FAILURES!!!

He IS running as a Republican isn't he??!!
Somebody pinch me. I'm dreaming or have eaten the wrong kind of mushroom!

The bald faced, REALITY DENYING, sheer AUDACITY and ARROGANCE of the Republican Party amazes me. They have NO SHAME or CONSCIENCE!
It is wise to FEAR people who have NO MORAL GUIDANCE, ETHICS, or CONSCIENCE.
There is NO LINE they will not cross in pursuit of MONEY or POWER.

6. Well, here's a quote that should help him get elected -
"Kennedy said three of his primary campaign issues will be the war on terrorism, health care and the economy."

We've really wiped out all those terrorists in Iraq. Everybody now has health care coverage. And how about that economy!?! It's doing just oh-so-well. :sarcasm:

Congressman Kennedy Commemorates Little Rock Nine
"I am proud to support passage of legislation that I cosponsored for a commemorative coin to honor the 50th anniversary of the integration of Little Rock Central High School. This historic event stands as one of the landmark desegregation victories of the 20th Century. The courageous actions of the Little Rock Nine who integrated Little Rock Central will forever stand as a testament to the triumph of freedom over oppression."
--------------------------------------------------------------
He signed as a co-sponsor of a commemorative coin for the integration of Little Rock, Arkansas High School? Whoop-de-doo.

If integration was up for a vote in this Congress, I doubt he'd be supporting it.

I guess that is the only thing he has to hang his hat on this session.

Wow. I am SO impressed.

12. Is he really doing anything for the 6th?
Or just mostly campaigning for next year? I do believe it is the latter.
