FBI whistleblower Rowley running for Congress as a Dem
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Former Minneapolis FBI agent Coleen Rowley, whose public criticism of the bureau set off an uproar over the FBI's pre-Sept. 11 counterterrorism lapses, said Monday that she will run as a Democrat for the U.S. House.

Rowley plans to challenge second-term Republican Rep. John Kline in Minnesota's Second District, which stretches across the Twin Cities' western and southern suburbs and as far south as Le Sueur and Red Wing.

She said she will formally launch her campaign July 6 with a pancake breakfast for friends and supporters on the driveway of her Apple Valley home.

Her entry into the race, as one of Time magazine's former "Persons of the Year," pits Kline against an opponent with national name recognition and possibly, fundraising appeal.

Well, it certainly will be interesting to watch as Kline tries to paint Rowley as soft on terrorism!

We can win this one, gang. I'm not in that district, but my check is as good as in the mail.

1. Kline: "But I carried the football, guys! The football!"
Hopefully Daly won't get in the race and fuck things up. She was a terrible candidate in 2004 and she'll be a terrible candidate in 2006.

2. Oh my god, he carried a football AND a suitcase
How could anyone possibly deny Kline another term with that kind of experience? :sarcasm:

And I agree with you on Daly. I could not bring myself to vote for her. So I voted for the Independence Party candidate who was completely insane instead. I figured that he wasn't going to win anyways so it didn't matter how insane he was, it was more of a protest vote against the lack of real choices on the ballot.

3. My senate district is split between the 3rd & 2nd Congressional Districts
I live in the 3rd. But, if someone doesn't start a campaign against Ramstad soon, I'll put my efforts into Rowley's campaign.

5. This is good news
This is good news. Daly kinda freaked me out and I don't think really had a platform whatsoever to win. Rowley should do much better. Let's hope it is enough.
