Okay, the last thread was getting a bit confusing, so here's a summary of who and what we have so far.

(BTW, all of you should bring your own beverages and barbecuable items)

Lydia Leftcoast--fruit salad at this point, may switch if some more vital element is missing

GAspnes--plates and utensils

Bvar22--is bringing ??

Katinmn--cole slaw or potato salad, charcoal

Enufalready--potato salad or cole slaw

Love Bug--is bringing ??

Inch high-- is bringing ??

Cynthia--is bringing ??

DemonFighterLives, Mrs. DemonFighterLives, and possibly others-- are bringing??

dflprincess--is bringing ??

no name no slogan is a maybe

Okay, here are the definite needs:

buns and condiments (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise)

fixings for s'mores

chips, perhaps with dip

Three question mark people or some subsequent RSVPer should volunteer to bring these.

:hi:

The Pavilion will be open, for pete's sake. Chili dogs. Slushies.

What we do in addition is gonna be great, especially the hike down the creek below the Falls.

will bring chips (Doritos for Katinmn) - any other special requests? Otherwise I'll stick to potato and tortilla chips. If we're not starting until 6:30, I can make a run home first, so I'll bring some dips and salsa as well.

And, don't laugh, I will need directions to the pavilion.

What do we do if it rains? (I added that for GAspne's benefit)

14. The buns will be handy in any case, and I will bring a
few Gardenburgers in case some vegetarians show up.

If no one else brings hamburger buns, I'll switch from fruit salad to hamburger buns, which are more important in the greater scheme of things when we're talking in picnic terms.

24 be enough...burgers and dogs??
jar of mayo, jar of mustard, bottle of ketchup?
That would be easy.

I don't know what a "smore" is.
Must be regional!

31. I think Love Bug is bringing hot dog buns
but hamburger buns are always welcome.

I don't think s'mores are regional--they were in my Girl Scout handbook when I was a kid. They're made of two graham crackers, four squares of a Hershey bar, and a toasted marshmallow smooshed in between.

S'mores sound delicious. Never had one!
Chocolate makes me happy!

I'm down for 24 burger buns and a jar of mustard, jar of Mayo, and bottle of Ketchup!
I'll also bring a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi, and a 2 liter bottle of Lemonade!

I'm also bringing a huge package of ball park franks, catsup, mustard, relish and chopped onions.

Dogs for everyone!

BTW-- Daughter, divameow77, can't make it. She and hubby are going to the Vikings game tonight.

33. A final suggestion
If there are some people coming who may not know everyone, maybe we should all wear political T-shirts or buttons for easy identification.

The only one I have is my Kucinich T-shirt, but hey, why not?

I haven't been to a DU meetup before, but I will try for this one. Minnehaha Falls is a fairly large park, is there a specific meeting spot? If not I can probably figure it out because I have seen pictures of some of you on here before.

So I'll bring the graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows along with a few roasting forks. If anyone else has some roasting forks, please bring them along as the park is not likely to want us scrounging around for green sticks to use.

38. Yes, it's probably illegal to scrounge for sticks
The Lake Harriet rose garden has signs posted warning people not to "molest the plants," so I suppose that is the case in all of the city parks.

40. I already thought of bringing barbecuing utensils!
It occurred to me this morning that we didn't want to be picking meat off the grill withour bare hands, so I'll bring tongs and a metal spatula, as well as some skewers that could double as marshmallow roasting sticks.

39. Remember to bring quarters for the parking meters
Yes, Mpls parks charge for parking (don't get me started). If you don't have a year pass you can either buy one in the park building or plug quarters in the meters.
