Bush/Cheney campaign looking for
a prominent MN site for a rally tentatively scheduled in early August.

I'm in a position to know that at least one such site was approached but was turned down (for various reasons, one of which was that the campaign wouldn't give a DATE, just a RANGE of dates).

1. It would be a shame if they couldn't find anything -
maybe you can suggest a few vacant (closed) factories.

2. Been awhile since I've been in Minnesota
But since it is the Bush/Cheney campaign, Thief River Falls was what first came into my mind.

5. Well, Warroad is a pretty Republican town
so they might be willing.

However, I talked to someone who is running for state legislature from Warroad as a DFLer (poor thing), and she said that being only 3 miles from Canada, people are aware of the disparity in health care systems.

7. Especially considering what the Koch family has done for RWers
Their family pedigree includes founding the John Birch Society, the Cato Institute, and funding a large variety of right-wing politicians, including (unfortunately) the DLC.

They're also one of the biggest corporate polluters in the state, too, with runoff from their Pine Bend Refinery (in Cottage Grove, btw) draining directly into the Mississippi River!!! Mmmm-mmmmm, I bet those folks downstream in Winona just LOOOOOVE the taste of petrochemical runoff in their drinking water!

8. They'll be playing Wagner, no doubt
Some dipshit "Reporter" on MSNBC smiled at me and told me that the western suburbs were Bush country.

Aren't there some burnt out stock brokerage firms, (like, in Golden Valley) that our glorious war president could use as a back drop?

How about the flight school where the 20th hi-jacker got snagged?
