2. It seems like one of those lost seats for the DFL |
|
Ramstad seems to own that district.
Unlike the rest of his party, at least Ramstad's not a scumbag. It could be worse.
I used to live in his district, and he seemed like a fairly decent guy. But I'm boycotting the GOP this year, and wish the best for EVERY Dem candidate.

3. Ramstad tries to portray himself as a moderate |
|
and there are times (not many) that he's deviated from the Bush party line. To his credit, he did pubically tell the people whining about the Wellstone Memorial to "let it be". But - he is a Republican and mostly loyal to Bush and should be dumped. Sadly, I think the only way he could be defeated is if the candidate running against him had unlimited funds and started running against him the day after this year's election.

4. One thing I like about him... |
|
...is that he refused to become involved in the whole Clinton impeachment thing. If I recall, he was one of the few Republicans who voted against it.
I do agree about the Republican thing, though. But as a Repug, he ain't that bad. I could think of worse guys.

got over 70% last time. He totally owns that district.
At least he's the most tolerable Republican out of our delegation. I'd take him over Gutknecht who I'm stuck with. And once he retires, we have a good shot at picking up that one.

6. Ramstad is most tolerable MN Republican |
|
He's more from the old school of Minnesota Republicanism which was mostly about fiscal responsibility and competent administration of public resources. I still think Arne Carlson was a pretty good governor, especially when you compare him to our current Governor Timmy the Gimmick Guy.

7. he actually has a primary GOP challenger... |
|
Burton somebody....no one has heard of him. he is probably from the Quist (religious radical ) wing of the party alleging that ol' Jimbo is a liberal. Ramstad is my favorite Republican. Anybody who gets highest marks from BOTH the Sierra Club and the Chamber of Commerce is doing something right. i think someday he will have to come to grips with the sleazy bastards who run the party he owes his allegiance to.
On the other hand, he would make a very strong candidate against Sen. Dayton. Let's hope he's very happy with the Third District seat.
