While her Minnesota constituents were slogging through another winter last February wondering how they were going to pay their heat bills, let alone take a vacation, Rep. Michele Bachmannn was living large at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Ocean Boulevard in West Palm Beach, Florida —courtesy of a right-wing anti-tax group.
Bachmann likes to remind her constituents at every opportunity of the long hours she puts in as your congresswoman. One of the first things Bachmann did upon taking office was to complain loudly about the extension of the Congressional work week from three days to five under House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
“We're stretching three-day weeks into five days,” Bachmann whined to The Politico at the time. “I think the American people would be outraged if they knew we were flying in here to wish people happy birthday. It takes us away from valuable work in the district.”
What Bachmann didn’t tell you is that she has no problem abandoning her “valuable work in the district” in the dead of winter if the alternative is a $500-a-night room at the posh West Palm Beach Ritz-Carlton.
