Star Tribune refused to report on National Veterans for Peace Convention! |
|
Star Tribune, along with other news outlets, was sent a Press Release on the National Veterans Convention being held Aug 27-31st. Nationally over 6000 members, and projected 400 VFP along with new organized Iraq Veterans Against the War members.. will attend the Convention.
When local Vets for Peace called to ask if Star Tribune could cover the convention, the Editor told VFP.. we have enough "Peace" stories to conver.
So here is this National Veterans organizaton coming to Bloomington to have their "National" Convention, and Star Tribune doesn't think the Veterans are worth covering.
These are the Veterans tackleing Agent Orange, PTSD, Sexual Abuse of Female Soldiers, Torture, both as victim and perpetrator, Struggling for Peace of Mind After an Unjust War, Cluster Bombs and Landmines, GI Rights Hotline, Grieving & Healing, Lessons on Organizing From A Gold Star Family
Ask the Star Editor why he is against Veterans:

Letters should be fewer than 250 words, Counterpoints fewer than 500 words, and other articles less than 700 words

2. This is the same paper that sent James Lileks to cover the Dem convention |
|
I hope that means they'll send a liberal Democrat to cover the Repub convention next week.

3. Avista Capital Partners was in charge of that |
|
Also for this "budget" excuse for this lack of coverage elsewhere. The Strib owners are only there to gut the paper.

5. We went through the same thing with the Kucinich campaign |
|
Had to beg for coverage for a candidate whose audiences grew larger with each visit.
