Arne Carlson, former Republican governor in Minnesota, endorsed Obama
If you know any admirers of Governor Carlson, then send this to him or her.

=========================
Carlson said Thursday that the Illinois senator's stances on the Iraq war, the economy and green energy goals won him over. Carlson, who served from 1991 to 1998, also cited recent comments by GOP Congresswoman Michele Bachmann questioning whether politicians have "pro-America or anti-America views."

"Regardless of our party, regardless of our partisan inclinations, there is no interest more compelling than the interest in the well-being of the United States," Carlson said at a gathering of Obama supporters at the state Capitol.

Carlson added, "He has laid out for this nation a vision for a national purpose."

1. Carlson really slammed Bachmann in his comments here
Carlson cited the recent comments by 6th Congressional District Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, as a significant factor in his decision to endorse Obama.

“I think it’s very fair to say right after those comments I called Walter Mondale,” said Carlson, referring to Bachmann’s appearance on “Hardball” last Friday where the congresswoman opined that Obama may have anti-American views.

Bachmann has said the show host set her up.

Carlson, who has tangled with the Minnesota Republican Party over issues, said he has been disappointed that Minnesota Republicans have not spoken out more against Bachmann’s comments.

4. Carlson is the best Republican in Minnesota.
My only major beef with him was his insistence on school vouchers. Otherwise he has a very sane view on taxes, budgeting, and running a state. Does MN have term limits for gov? I bet he could win again if he chose to run.
