The co-owned Fargo Forum, Grand Forks Herald, West Central Tribune (Willmar), Morris Sun Tribune, Detroit Lakes Tribune, Bemidji Pioneer, Alexandria Echo Press that covers NW, west central Minnesota, and northern MN went for McCain and Coleman. Also the Forum owned Red Wing Republican-Eagle went that way.

5. The Duluth News Tribune will endorse McCain and Coleman, prob. on Sunday.
Its parent company, Forum Communications, wants all Forum papers to run the same McCain editorial.

I'm assuming they'll endorse Oberstar, because there's no way you can't.

7. If that derective was not company wide there might have been more diversity
And there would not be as many McCain/Coleman which I posted above. It is amazing what power that one conference room in Fargo can do.

8. The idea of the Duluth News Tribune endorsing McCain/Coleman blows me away.
I mean, isn't a newspaper supposed to at least have an idea about the community it covers? Oh. Oh wait. My bad.

9. Nope, nowadays a media outlet follows its corporate parent
If it determined just on the corporate parent. I agree, Duluth would change to a more Democratic Party endorsement.

It will be interesting to judge how the more independent Winona Daily News goes tomorrow when they release their endorsements. The St Cloud Times is the only one to break the mold so far, going with Barkley and not Coleman.

and they want Palin's foreign policy experience - which is so similar to theirs.

22. The Two Harbors paper ran the Forum editorial, BUT they ran it at the BOTTOM of the page, BELOW
a guest column endorsing Obama. They followed the letter of the "law" of being owned by Forum, BUT they also reflected and represented the very, very blue area they publish in. KUDOS!

23. Aaaaand Duluth weighs in for McCain, and hundreds begin finally considering dropping their subs.
Don't they know that branding Obama's plans as "socialistic, spread-the-wealth strategy" is only going to win him votes on the People's Republic of Missabe? Oh wait, the paper hardly goes up there anymore.

24. The Timberjay Newspapers for Al Franken.
http://www.timberjay.com/current.php?article=4820

=======================
To his credit, Franken understands the issues affecting Minnesotans, knows how to communicate and, with some on- the-job experience, could be a strong voice for the state. And he’s not afraid to speak truth to power, something few politicians have the spine to do these days.

Republicans fret that installing large Democratic majorities in the House and Senate with Obama as president will give free reign to a liberal agenda. But that argument doesn’t stick. There are plenty of blue-dog Democrats who don’t fit the stereotype of a tax-and-spend liberal. Besides, it’s laughable for Republicans to claim they offer a check on spending after sinking the country $10 trillion in debt.

More importantly, undoing the damage of the past eight years is unlikely to happen under divided government, especially one with Republicans in the minority. When they found themselves in a similar situation in 1992, Republicans, led by Newt Gingrich, simply voted no on everything. In the Senate, they would likely use the filibuster, with help from Norm Coleman, to block any real changes to this country’s economic policies.

Indeed, that’s just what Republicans in the Senate have done for the last two years. The easiest solution is to elect more Democrats and get rid of Republicans, like Coleman, who will seek to keep America on the wrong track.
