DNC listening session, Friday Dec. 3, 2004
http://www.democracyforminnesota.org/event/2004/12/2

Friday, December 3, 6 PM Carpenter's Union Hall 700 Olive Street St Paul, MN 55101 Locations of three additional meetings to be held in different locations throughout Minnesota are to be announced. Check http://www.progressivecaucus.net for In February the Democratic National Committee - the governing body that formulates the vision, determines the strategy for delivering our message, and sets the overall tone of the national Democratic Party - will be electing a new Chair to lead the Party. The Chair is responsible for communicating that vision and the collective values of the national Party. Many of us have ideas about how we would like to be represented, and here is your opportunity to be heard. In Minnesota we have six voting members of the DNC and in true Minnesota fashion they want to hear from the grassroots! In an unprecedented event co-sponsored by the MN DFL and the MN Progressive Caucus, our DNC representatives will meet with everyday DFLers like you to find out where we want our party leadership to take us as we move forward. Come share your thoughts! We look forward to seeing you! Donna Cassutt, Chair, Minnesota Progressive Caucus 612-798-4952 dcassutt@mm.rr.com 3 out of our 6 DNC members will be in attendance, with possibly 4 - Jackie Stevens, Nancy Larson, Rick Stafford and possibly Mike Erlandson. Responses from the audience will be collected and given to the members. Plans for a blog are being worked on for those not able to attend - as soon as a link is available, it will get posted. Please distribute this as widely as you can and I hope to see many of you there.

1. Question.
I live in Fla but am originally from Minnesota. I'll be there this weekend. How do you think it would work for a foreigner like me to attend? Will the discussion be specifically Minnesota related?

2. Come. I'm expecting the main subject to be national
Who will be the next chair of Democratic National Committee?

I don't know what we'll talk about, but I'll be surprised if it's mostly local.

3. Show up. There will be more than this one, too.
These will supposedly take place all over the country. There's plans for a few more of these around the state, too, within the next few months.

6. I'll be there.

What do YOU want to say to the DNC?
A co-ordinated, cohesive, brief list signed by Progressive Democrats would carry more weight than random verbal bitching.

One of my personal complaints about DNC2004 was that the Democrats failed to produce a cohesive, brief Platform that was easily understood and remembered by the average American voter. (SEE the Republican Contract on America).
