Protest Censorship By Major Networks
The United Church of Christ simply included a lesbian
couple in an ad about diversity being welcome in their
church and the major networks deemed their ad too
controversial to air. This despite profiteering off
hits such as "Will and Grace" by the same networks.
Please let the networks now that a message of
inclusion is not "too controversial" a value to be
viewed on your TV set.

I just signed a petition to the heads of CBS and NBC,
letting them know how upset I am about their refusal
to run this television ad from the United Church of
Christ expressing the religious denomination's
openness to all people because it is "too
controversial." In fact, CBS cited the President
Bush's effort to ban marriage of same-sex couples as
the basis for concluding the spot should not be aired.
Please join me and sign the petition yourself. We need
to let these networks know that the airwaves belong to
us all -- not just Religious Right extremists.

As a UCC member, I thank you for keeping this on the board. This is too important to roll over as old news.
