Eibenstiner must face misdemeanor charges |
|
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/5158553.htmlRon Eibensteiner, Minnesota Republican Party chairman, will have to face misdemeanor charges that he helped a Florida insurance company improperly funnel money into the 2002 gubernatorial race, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.
A three-judge panel reversed a Mower County court's decision in April to dismiss the charges, finding that a grand jury had enough evidence to support a trial and the county had jurisdiction. The case now returns to the county for proceedings leading to a trial, Mower County Attorney Patrick Flanagan said.
"We believe that there's enough evidence to present it to a jury,'' Flanagan said. ...
Eibensteiner was charged with buying television advertising — including ads that ran on KAAL-TV in Austin, in Mower County — for Tim Pawlenty's gubernatorial campaign using money donated by executives of the parent company of American Bankers Insurance Co. of Florida.

That might go a long way in helping to defeat the "TAxpayer's Bill Of Rights" mentioned in another thread because didn't he used to be the head of the taxpayer's league?
