Chance to view "state of the art" voting machine
People should try to go, and pass this message on. While the Secretary
of State views this apparently as being for blind and deaf-blind people
only, that's not true and it's for people with disabilities who need
assistance to access a voting machine.

The Minnesota Office of the Secretary of State is pleased to announce
and cordially invite you to attend a special preview showing of
currently available
state-of-the-art accessible voting equipment.

The voting equipment demonstrations will be held:

Date: Friday, January, 14, 2005

Time: 10 A.M. to 7 P.M.

Place: Room 181 in the State Office Building
100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd
St. Paul, MN 55155

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 requires that voting systems equipped
for individuals with disabilities be available in each polling place for
election
for federal office occurring after January 1, 2006. Minnesota Statute
Section 206.57 requires that "After December 31, 2005, the voting method
used in
each polling place must include a voting system that is accessible for
individuals with disabilities, including nonvisual accessibility for the
blind and
visually impaired in a manner that provides the same opportunity for
access and participation, including privacy and independence, as for
other voters."

This special event will allow you an opportunity to observe the
emerging voting technologies developed to assist person with
disabilities in voting privately
and independently as a direct result of the Help America Vote Act
(HAVA), P.L. 107-252 that was signed into law by President George W.
Bush on October,
2002.

1. Thanks for the notice on this event!
It should be inetersting to see if thee is only a touch screen Diebold machine or a unit from another vendor. I have read about a non-diebold machine that will mark a paper ballot via voice, other commands so there is a paper trail.

2. After I view the machine...
After I view the machine, will I have the opportunity to tell Kiffmeyer to shove said machine up her ass?

Or are comments from the peasants verboten these days?
