About that hoax that Christmas lights have to be off |
|
Channel 5 started its six o'clock news with a story about a hoax from a radio station that by law all Christmas lights have to be off by Jan. 14, otherwise the homeowners would be charged on a "per bulb" basis.
I chuckled, but then I was staring at an obscene display from Chanhassen. I wish that the reporter asked the homeowner about their electric bill for December.
We usually think about poor people who need help with paying for gas to heat their homes, but not about electricity to light them. But I think that some comparison can be made.

2. I must be stupider than I thought... |

I believed that! I wasn't sure how it could be within our constitutional rights, but I believed it!

3. if you live in a gated community |

or any of the many 'developed' housing projects in the 'burbs, there's probably a Convenant that says exactly that.
I'm *so* glad I live in the city. My neighbors put up displays, leave them up, park cars on the street, paint their houses different colors ... it's a lot more free than livin' in the Republican enclaves outside 494/694.
