This week's "Conservative Con" was inspired by Wendy Wilde's remarks
"Air America Minnesota" radio host Wendy Wilde remarked on how Bush implied in his State of the Union that he's worried about Social Security being there for his daughters.

And how bogus it is that the rich Bush family needs Social Security.

I used her observation as the basis of the latest "Conservative Con" article at my blog:

1. First they would actually have to work for wages to be eligible.
I think the requirement is 40 quarters of work, that's equivalent to 10 years.

Or, of course, they could marry someone who works for wages and stay married to that person for at least 10 years.

If you live on dividends and distributions from trust funds, you're not eligible for Social Security.

The key is, YOU HAVE TO WORK to get it.

2. SOMEONE has to work...not necessarily the recipient as you
first said...but be married to someone who did pay into SS. I know from experience that the ex of my husband is drawing SSI on my husband's SS because she was too damn sorry to get a job.

3. During the campaign, weren't we told that
one daughter was going to work as a teacher for poor children or some such?

4. Franken talked about this ...Jenna Bush was going to teach at a charter
school, somewhere in DC. Al and Katherine talked to Richard Leiby of the WaPo who said Jenna didn't meet the standards of No Child Left Behind and was therefore unable to teach a class but would work as a teacher's aide. The second link (below) details pretty much what was discussed on Franken's show.
