Did (Repuke) Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro ever
come to the defense of any "death row" inmate who decided to have DNA testing done to try to clear him?

I think that this only serves to smear a Dem prosecutor who was under a lot of pressure (from "law-and-order" Repig constituents) to get a conviction . . .

3. Sorry it took so long ... Jim Petro decided to free a man based on
DNA evidence ... but the prosecutor didn't convict the man (Clarence Elkins) on the DNA.

The DNA cleared him of the rape charge . . . on the rest, who knows.

But Petro was rushing to get Elkins out of jail ... and he is running for higher office this year . . .

I just wondered if he went to bat for any other convicts who claim that DNA testing would clear them . . .

On edit: See second link...
Is Petro trying to smear someone? It appears he agreed to review the case, not a lot more.

Ohio just re-started executions several years ago. Petro is pro-death penalty, though.

Here are a few links I found - he's planning to ask the Supreme Court to overrule a lower court re a death sentence

But he took up the case of a man who was exonerated based on DNA evidence
