Life in the campaign office - day 2 |
|
I began volunteering three days a week in the local Kerry 2004 office. We're waiting for phone and internet connections to be made so that we can begin our phone banking. We cover a six county area in the east central part of the state.
The office is in the Democratic Headquarters in what used to be a small mall. The mall now houses a lot of medical facilities, a very republican accounting business , the license bureau, a veteran's center and us. The headquarters has been there several years and is usually closed. Not any more, we are open; and we are busy.
I was amazed at the number of voters who have stopped by in the last two days for bumperstickers and literature. Many have signed up to help out with the campaign. From what I see, my county is ready to elect a new president. I've heard some pretty sad stories from people without health insurance who are at their wits end trying to figure out how they will deal with the bills. I'm feeling really good about the way things are heading and will keep you updated.
