Vote for Change benefit at the Nutter Center (WSU--Dayton) |
|
I may be interested in politics but im also a big pop music fan, and I'm going to that Vote for Change benefit tomorrow at the Nutter Center.
The lineup is more from the "alternative" side of pop music:
Jurassic Five
Dave Matthews
My Morning Jacket
Ben Harper
...but it will be cool to see some fellow Democrats and music fans.

1. If it meant a guaranteed Kerry victory... |
|
I STILL wouldn't go see Dave Mathews. Wonder which street they'll empty the bus toilet onto...

2. Well..i really need to get out more...concert postmortem. |
|
I never go to big arena rock or pop concerts (I think the last indoor one I saw was Dolly Parton during the Kentucky State Fair, back in the late '70s), so seeing these acts at Nutter Center was quite an experience.
And the DDN made it their front page story in their Sunday paper.
The place was just packed. If not a sellout it came pretty close...and I have never seen a concert audience as pumped as this one was.
Now, to be honest, I really cant get into Dave Matthews music (i went for Ben Harper and J5....and My Morning Jacket ..just to here them), but I can tell you the crowd just seriously got into this music, and the message , too.
It was really cool, after living in a world of Bush supporters, to see real-live flesh and blood Kerry/Edwards supporters for a change...a real "contact high", as they say.

3. Some concert goers didn't know it was politically motivated. |
|
I thought that was a hoot. Link here for the "Dayton Daily News" story: http://tinyurl.com/3kl3d

4. There was no way they could NOT know... |
|
...when you bought the tickets online (and that was the only way to buy them...via Ticketbastard online or "charge by phone). there was a disclosure statement that made it clear that the ticket price was a political donation and you had to provide your occupation and employer for the Federal disclosure rules...
...heh...the ticket buyers will probably be online at Fundrace soon! LOL!
