They want to steal Ohio? This is how to fight for it: |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 03:45 AM by aquart
If the rule is that those in line at closing time get to vote, like it is in New York, then the line can last into next WEEK, if the voters have the strength.
What it would amount to is a voting sit in, and the entire world would watch the Republican party disgrace itself. But the voters would still be, eventually, able to vote.
IF the rule is that you can vote if you're still in line at closing.
Embarrass the state. Embarrass the nation. STAY IN THE LINE.
Start lining up restaurants willing to feed the voters. Entertainers, and I mean real star power to walk those lines. Runners who can bring back necessary information. Or place holders to maintain the line. Umbrellas, if necessary. Portapotties. Get volunteers to care for their children. Make phones available to speak to their bosses who MUST ALLOW TIME FOR THEM TO VOTE.
The thieves want Ohio? Make them fight for it.

plenty of people all over the country who will pitch in bucks to help them pay their bills. I know I will. Whatever it takes.
The GOTV people can start the ball rolling to keep them in the voting line...same in Florida. The reason I say the GOTV people, is because they are already organized.
It will quickly become a national media event and snowball on the GOP, sorta like an avalanche coming at them.

5. Adopt-a-Voter would be really cool! And give some better-off Democrats |
|
the chance to see how a few thousand dollars that they have left over after paying the basics can mean the difference between housed and fed or hungry and homeless for so many people.

4. Ohio does say that if you are in line, you have the right to vote |

Be prepared for a wait--Hubby called to let me know the lines this year are AMAZING. In 2000, same place, same time, maybe 10 people in line. Today--more like 150!

The best thing a crowd can do during long waits in line is to sing. If it's a mixed crowd, sing 99 Bottles. If it 's mostly Democrats, sing We Shall Overcome. If the crowd likes to sing, people will suggest other tunes. I know this sounds corny, but it keeps people busy and happy.
