Ohio Electors

I've brought this up in the election forum a few weeks ago only to find it deleted or something for some reason unbeknownst to me....

Why aren't we working on lobbying the electors for visibility too? Why aren't progressive organizations teaming up to have candlelight vigils near the homes of everyone of the 20 electors across the state? It seems to me that even though futile this would be great "we're not giving up easily" PR.

1. because it's pointless. electors are insanely loyal

they're chosen for one thing, and one thing only, to cast the official electoral college vote in the manner intended by the candidate who put them on the slate. so the candidate (or, actually, the parties) selects the elector based on nothing beyond loyalty.

these are pretty much the last people in ohio who would switch.

Hence my line:

It seems like this would be a great place overall to focus on the, "keep on fighting" and "you may vote for Bush but you're still dead wrong" message.
