We have to give this a try
As you all should be aware, we are looking for Senators to stand with the congresspeople who are going to challenge the vote of the electoral college on Jan. the 6th. Here in Ohio we have two spineless career politicians. However, an appeal to Senator Dewine may have some chance.
I wrote to him using his rep as a great family man to try to convince him that he should stand for the future generations and help us to fix our badly broken voting system.
An honest, heartfelt plea may work with him.

Here is his web site http://dewine.senate.gov/

You can call, e-mail, or write or all three.
Please, Buckeyes, give this a try.
Thanks

1. Absolutely positively will not happen...
Not in this lifetime or any other will Mike DeWine challenge the results of the November Election.

The only possible hope is to get a Democrat to challenge. And that absolutely positively will not happen, not in this lifetime or any other.

In case you haven't noticed, Paul Wellstone is dead and along with it the conscience and the backbone of the Senate Democrats.

I'm not mocking you personally, mind you. It's just that if we couldn't get a Democratic Senator to support the House Black Congressional Caucus' challenge of the 2000 Election, it's not going to happen this time out. Sorry.

3. Really now..
Can you envision Mike DeWine challenging the electoral college results?

It's over, folks. It sucks, but it's over. Let's start looking toward 2008 and see what we can do better so there is no close elections and no doubts about who wins.

Go ahead and flame me. But I think it's time we did move on.

4. Agreed...
I started a thread a few days ago, asking how many DU'ers were Precinct Captains (or otherwise officers) in their local Democratic Party. I kicked it a couple of times and still only received a half dozen affirmative responses.

Either we're a shy and retiring bunch around here (not) or we have an enormous untapped potential to move the party in a progressive direction. If half of the DU'ers who piss and moan about a "stolen election" would get involved in their local party, we could have a different outcome in 2008.

Let's make it happen!

7. Learn from the past, plan for the future
The only post-mortem I am willing to do is to examine how Kerry won Montgomery County by such a small margin, and why he lost Clark County (I forget the numbers, but I don't think it was as close as Montco.) To me, these were inexcusable.

We had incredible grassroots effort here in Dayton. But campaign leadership sucked. And no matter how effective your folks are in the trenches, if you don't have the proper, correct, and CONSISTENT leadership from the campaign or the party, your efforts will go for naught.

The time to begin working for 2008 is now. 2006 is right around the corner, too, and I've seen very little discussion here or anywhere of viable candidates for governor or any other state office. Most here, it seems are still angry over November, or Blackwell, which is a complete waste of time.

It's obvious, but bears stating: The Dems have to begin working locally if they want to win nationally.
