COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mayor and Democratic candidate for governor Michael Coleman said Friday that his bout with nationally syndicated radio host Glenn Beck over an alleged sexual assault at a Columbus high school should not interfere with a police investigation of the matter.
The assault and the city's response has been the subject of Beck's radio program this week. It is aired locally and draws 100,000 people during the week, said Steve Konrad, WTVN radio's program manager.
Coleman said he would have preferred to avoid the program but he "just couldn't bite my tongue" over Beck's three days of "blasting the city."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The controversy surrounding the handling of an alleged sexual assault at a Columbus high school continues to draw attention.
On Wednesday, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman called the Glenn Beck national radio show after the issue was brought up on air, NBC 4's Elenora Andrews reported.

Senior Expelled For Allegedly Taping Act
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One of the teens expelled after an alleged sexual attack last month at Mifflin High School is appealing his expulsion, NBC 4's Elenora Andrews reported.
A ninth-grade special education student claims she was forced to perform oral sex on at least two boys at the high school auditorium while others reportedly watched the acts and another student allegedly videotaped it.
The teens in question were expelled. But one, who had a Dayton-area pastor as a spokesman and his mother by his side, spoke publicly Thursday about the alleged incident.

Beck Says He's Outraged
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- National radio talk show host Glenn Beck said Thursday that he remains outraged by Mayor Michael Coleman's responses regarding the handling of an alleged sexual assault at a Columbus high school.
For more than a week, Beck has questioned the Columbus Public School's handling of the alleged assault inside the Mifflin High School auditorium.
The district came under scrutiny after a developmentally disabled girl was allegedly sexually assaulted last month by a group of boys, NBC 4 reported. Administrators then failed to call the girl's father, police or any child protective services, NBC 4 reported.
The school's principal is in the process of being fired and three assistant principals were suspended for 10 days for failing to contact police, NBC 4 reported...
