Let's talk redistricting Ohio!
First of all, let me refer you to the map:
http://www.house.gov/chabot/mapall.html

(If someone could actually post the image I would be most grateful.)

As you can see, Ohio's 1st and 2nd districts are carved up in a most bizarre manner, the 2nd splitting Hamilton County in the West and Scioto County in the East. Why not have a 1st district which includes ALL of Hamilton County, plus Clermont, Butler and Warren? The 2nd District would be comprised of Brown, Adams, Pike, Jackson, and all of Scioto County (and possibly Ross or Vinton).

I'm tossing this out in all seriousness, for as long as Cincinnati and its 'burb Repuke counties control the district the people in the rural eastern counties effectively have no voice -- and they know it.

Would someone please configure a way to get us the hell out of the 2nd district!!

3. Thank you!
I think this illustrates our conundrum quite clearly.

4. They redrew the 3rd district with no problem....
...and now we're probably stuck with Mike Turner until Armageddon.

I agree. These district boundaries are crazy.

5. Yes -- the way it is now configured
It automatically gives the Cincy-area republicans control of TWO districts, the 1st and 2nd. The rural counties along the Ohio River have no help of ever achieving true representation in Congress until they are freed from Cincinnati control.

If refigured the way it SHOULD be, there would be one district -- the 2nd -- in Democratic hands right now. Even ONE additional congressional seat is nothing to dismiss lightly. That's the way the repukes have been stealing the country from us, one district at a time.
