If we can bring Hackett from out of nowhere to within four points of victory in a 70% Repub districts, imagine what a Hackett can do in districts which have fewer Repubs and more grass roots activism on our part! We've been handed our mandate, we know that it works, and all we have to do now is take it national in '06!!!

1. That's the spirit!
I totally agree with you. Hackett was a wonderful candidate and did an amazing job in a tough race.

We just need to keep moving forward and keep pushing. We can do this!

2. Another good sign was the rural vote for Hackett
Tells me that the Repug gerrymandered districts that include large rural areas are much more competetive than they once were. Those should be the first assessed for targeted campaigns next time around. Somebody viable needs to run against Oxley if Konop isn't going to...

I grew up country, and we respect people who speak their minds and stand by it. (and I'm sure the pro-gun thing helped regardless of NRA backing -- I think many rural people realize the NRA is BS and ignore their endorsements).

3. My hat's off
to Hackett and everyone who worked for his campaign. This was a major accomplishment. I hope Paul can be convinced to stay in the fray because imho, he's very electable. America's begining to recognize their hunger pains for a man who speaks truth to power and who is awake to 'real world' struggles of his fellow citizens.

I know he said he would go back to Iraq - but I think we need him here. Dean and Hackett ought to offer master classes on how to campaign for 2006.

4. This OBVIOUS view goes out to all: IRAQ IS AN ANCOR for Repub necks!
2006 will be a good year for the nation, as some balance in the power wielding in the U.S. is restored. Grass roots and nothing less, like you say, will be needed to overcome the HUGE influx of money goes into the established ruling class. by the way, Hackett is no pacifist, today on Amy Goodman's Democracy Now he would not say Iraq was a mistake, but it was mishandled! More work is needed to overcome the propaganda of LIBERATION, not OIL, was the goal in Iraq.

5. Exactly, the predicable doomsayers came out in force
in GD and GDP

You gotta live or work in Ohio to appreciate this as the MAJOR victory it was...it validates the climate, and validates more noise from us.
