5. Strickland's News Release on Noe Indictment |
|
10/27/05
STRICKLAND STATEMENT ON NOE INDICTMENT
"Today's announcement underscores that the culture of Republican corruption reaches beyond just one man - or even one state.
The arrogance of one-party rule is costing us greatly in its damage to essential institutions, but it's costing us more in lost opportunities to revive our economy and rebuild our schools.
Instead of working with questionable characters like Mr. Noe, we need a governor and a state legislature that will get serious about putting Ohio back on track. I believe that Ohioans deserve a state leadership as decent and hard-working as they are. I will work hard every day to be that kind of governor.
Given the fact that there is a large sum of money unaccounted for from Mr. Noe's dealings with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, it seems quite possible that the money Mr. Noe allegedly laundered into President Bush's reelection campaign could have come from Ohio businesses and workers.
Anyone who knowingly participated with Mr. Noe in this apparent money-laundering scheme should be investigated and brought to justice."
