"Forging Opportunity from Crisis; Young Leadership for Our City’s Fiscal Future"

"Councilman Bill Peduto’s Guyasuta Youth Fellowship Program enters its third year in 2004 in the midst of
uncertainties over our City’s – and our region’s – fiscal future. In the face of these challenges, Councilman Peduto
has focused this year’s fellowship program on Pittsburgh’s fiscal issues. The 2004 Guyasuta Fellowship will serve
as a platform to bring together Pittsburgh’s young civic leaders, challenge them to actively engage in the dialog
around our fiscal problems and to develop a long-term vision for our City and region that can turn today’s
problems into future successes. While the majority of current discussions revolve around the 2004 and 2005
immediate budgetary problems, the Fellowship will build a vision for what young people would want our City to
look like in 2012, then to build priorities and plans toward achieving those long-term goals."

I went to the first meeting of this year's fellowship and am excited about the possibilities. I have spoken with Bill Peduto prior to this and am really impressed with his drive and vision.
