Hoeffel Speaks at Convention
Joe Hoeffel spoke at the DNC convention just a few minutes ago, talking about his parents and grandparents' Republican values and how they changed their party affiliatiations to join the Democrats only recently.

He also quoted Martin Luther King, Jr. about the "fierce urgency of
now", referring to the need for an effective response to the
atrocities in Sudan and for Afghanistan to be a higher priority than
Iraq.

I forget how he closed. Does anybody remember?

Does anyone have a copy of the speech? I think it was well written
and should be displayed prominently on the campaign website.

Hoeffel works Boston for boost in Senate bid

By Carrie Budoff

Inquirer Staff Writer

BOSTON - U.S. Rep. Joseph M. Hoeffel spoke yesterday in a half-full
convention hall, at the less-than-prime-time slot of 4:43 p.m.

America's future.

The effort earned enthusiastic cheers - from his home-state
delegation, at least. Others clapped politely.

But the reception inside the FleetCenter did not matter nearly as
much as the warm one that Hoeffel has been seeking outside the hall

BOSTON Quoting Martin Luther King, U.S. Senate candidate Joe Hoeffel
says today that the government needs new leadership that will tackle
major issues with "the fierce urgency of now."

Hoeffel, a congressman from suburban Philadelphia, told the
Democratic National Convention that the United States needs to
respond to terror threats and to what he called genocide in the
African nation of Sudan.
