Dems challenging Nader's bid in Pa.
Allege that prez hopeful getting GOP aid

By CHRIS BRENNAN

Democrats from the state House of Representatives on Monday will challenge Ralph Nader's petitions for a place on the Pennsylvania presidential ballot in November.

Mike Manzo, chief of staff to House Minority Leader Bill DeWeese, said party volunteers are prepared to comb through the thousands of petition signatures Nader is expected to submit Monday, the state deadline.

They will be looking for any violations of state election law.

Nader needs 25,697 signatures from registered voters statewide to qualify for the ballot. His campaign says it is shooting to collect 40,000 signatures to be safe.

1. They are cutting it pretty close. Unless they have been
very careful and have checked the signatures against registration records they may not have enough valid sigs. 40,000 sounds like wishful thinking as well.

2. If Bill DeWeese is involved....
Don't touch it with a 10 foot pole. He is a weasel of the first order. I'm surprised he has not been called to task yet after the revelations of his use of tax dollars to fund his travel and penchant for expensive meals.

3. Nader's people have been really sloppy about getting sigs
if the people who sign are not registered voters then they are screwed...

They are getting signatures at public venues which is dangerous...a lot of people will randomly sign petitions even if they aren't registered...they feel ashamed not to admit it in many cases.
