We're going to have to fight the NRA again......
In 2000, they sent out tons of flyers to members in PA and WV saying Gore would take their guns away if he became President, and I know that's the sole reason my now late father-in-law-to-be voted for Bush.

Now it looks like they're up to their old tricks again as there are a LOT of blue collar union worker types who really don't trust Bush but they also hunt and all they hear from the NRA is how the gun grabbin' Dems are going to ban all hunting rifles.

If Dems could ever come up with a simple, easy to understand, sound byte size response to the gun thing, we'd win PA in a landslide.

1. I was under the impression Kerry was pro-gun??
Not that the truth matters much to the opposition.

2. It sure doesn't help
When we vote for a measure (that did not pass) to ban all hunting ammo.

3. but hunters and sportsman and outdoor people in Pa are really
ticked off about Bush's destruction of the environment. Isn't a huge portion of NRA support from hunters? If you have your gun but nothing to shoot at and nowhere to shoot at it, you are ' not a happy camper'.

4. It doesn't seem to matter
You can show them all the info you can on how Bush is destroying the environment, but then they get bombarded with fear mongering propaganda from the NRA and they end up pulling the Bush lever.

It's sad, I actually agree with the original mission of the NRA and their gun safety programs, its when they became a propaganda arm of the GOP is where I lost all respect.

5. It's not going to matter.
Cause PA is going DEM. The hunters and fisherman are pissed about the destruction of the environment. Kerry is outspokenly pro-gun. Bush is down 10 points before the convention. Nothing short of a minor miracle could send this state RED.

6. I hope so
It just scares me how so single minded some folks can be. They'd vote for a monster as long as he had their view on whatever that one issue is.
