Regardless of his political leanings, the world's most famous groundhog shrugged off hibernation to join U.S. Rep. John Peterson in a Washington press conference to defend $100,000 in federal funding for the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center. :wtf:

The message? Federal funding for the center is not "pork," a term used by watchdog groups to describe unnecessary spending that generally serves only local or special interests
